Ritual
My favorite Winter + partial Spring oatmeal recipe with cinnamon and cardamom powder baking spices, orange zest, chia seeds, dates, maple syrup, milk/alternative milk, and Banyan Botanicals Bacopa Powder. I recommend enjoying this recipe November to May for the availability of fresh seasonal Navel + Cara Cara Oranges! Although, it’s delicious anytime of year. I love this recipe because it’s simple and easy to make with vegan and vegetarian options! The Bacopa Powder helps me feel clear-headed, emotionally and mentally consistent throughout my day. Cinnamon helping maintain my blood sugar and cardamom for digestive ease after enjoying. See recipe below…
I really enjoy making this recipe first thing in the morning before my morning routine. Soaking the oats for at least thirty minutes to help my belly process even easier. Soaking helps the starches break down and reduces the natural phytic acid, which may help your body utilize the oats’ nutrients much more efficiently (optional).
First, I begin with an Ayurveda practice before cooking that I love, helping to keep past, present, or future worries and thoughts from being cooked in or stirred into the food. To ground me into the moment before gathering the ingredients to have everything in arms reach. I close my eyes and take a few rounds of deep breaths.
Heating a small pot over med-low low. Slowly cooking the oats and all ingredients, aside from maple syrup, milk, zest, and Bacopa Powder (optional). Cooking until the water has been completely absorbed. Then pouring into my favorite bowl, topping with maple syrup, milk, and sprinkling Bacopa Powder.
